LI‑COR® Acquisition Software Quick Start
This guide will get you started using LI‑COR Acquisition Software to acquire images with LI‑COR imagers. The Empiria Studio® Software Quick Start Guide covers getting started with image analysis.
Download and Install LI‑COR Acquisition Software
Ensure you have the correct permissions to install software on the computer you want to use, and ensure that your computer has the required specifications. LI‑COR Acquisition is not available for macOS.
Required
A minimum of 16 GB of RAM is required.
A minimum of 1 TB hard drive is required.
If the system is connected to a local area network, dual Network Interfaces (NICs) are required. One Network Interface is required for a dedicated, direct connection to the instrument.
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11 (64-bit)
Recommended
Certain components of the LI‑COR Acquisition user interface will not display optimally on screen sizes below 1320 x 800 pixels.
Dedicated graphics hardware will improve computer performance when working with large, high resolution images. Slide images are likely to be large, high resolution images.
Download LI‑COR Acquisition from licor.com/DownloadLAS.
Click the downloaded installer file.
Follow the steps in the installation wizard to complete installation.
Check Computer's Sleep Settings
If your computer goes to sleep during image acquisition, the image acquisition may not complete as expected.
Work with the appropriate people from your organization to ensure that the computer does not go to sleep during image acquisition. The most reliable way to ensure the computer does not go to sleep is to ensure your computer's settings prevent it from going to sleep automatically. To change the settings, go to Start > Settings > System > Power & sleep or click this link: Power & sleep settings.
Start LI‑COR Acquisition
Start LI‑COR Acquisition Software by double-clicking the LI‑COR Acquisition icon on the Desktop.
Create an Image Data Folder
You will be prompted to create an Image Data Folder A folder on your computer's hard drive where internal LI‑COR Acquisition data will be saved. where LI‑COR Acquisition can store internal software data. Follow guidelines in the software.
Do not put your Image Data Folder on a network drive or in a folder that automatically syncs with the cloud. Software can be slow when accessing network folders, and data can be lost if multiple people access the data simultaneously.
Open the Windows File Explorer .
Create an overall folder to hold Image Folders (e.g., "LI-COR Acquisition Images"), then create an Image Data Folder within the overall folder (e.g., "Image Data Folder 1").
In LI‑COR Acquisition, select the Image Data Folder (e.g., "Image Data Folder 1").
Acquire Your First Image
On the Home page , select the username that you want to use, or click New Username to add a new username.
Your LI‑COR Acquisition username helps you track your acquired images and is not associated with your LI‑COR account.
Select the Image Data Folder that you want to use, or click Add Data Folder to add a new Image Data Folder.
Click Scan .
Select the imager you want to use, and click Connect.
Choose an image acquisition workflow.
To use preset settings that are generally recommended as a starting point, click the name of the assay you want to image.
To use custom settings, click Custom. You may use custom settings, for example, if you are optimizing imaging settings for your particular assay.
Export Acquisitions and Images
On the Home page, click Image Gallery .
Select one Acquisition or multiple Acquisitions to export.
From the menu above the Image Gallery, click an export option.
Empiria Studio for analysis.
: Export the Acquisitions to a file that can be brought into: Export image(s) to use in a presentation or publication. These image formats should not be used for analysis.
Export to Image Report: Export image Acquisition(s) and important information about the image Acquisition(s) to a PDF.
