Problem: The LI-7000 Windows Interface Software (V 2.0.1) can be installed on Windows® 8; the USB connection does not work, however, while the RS-232 connection does.
Cause: Windows 8 requires all drivers to be ‘signed’ before they can be installed. The USB driver of the LI-7000 Windows Interface Software is not signed, so Windows 8 does not allow its installation. The LI-7000 Windows Interface Software appears to install correctly, but the required USB driver is actually left out.
Solution: Install the new LI-7000 Windows Interface Software (V2.0.3). Version 2.0.3 has fixed this problem, along with a few other minor bugs, and can be downloaded from:

If you are not able to install this new software immediately, the Version 2.0.1 driver can be fixed by following these steps:
- Temporally disable driver signature enforcement on Windows 8 by selecting the following keys and choices in the resulting menus and windows:
-
- Windows key + “C” (to get Charm Bar)
- Settings
- Change PC settings
- General
- Restart now (under Advanced Startup)
- Troubleshoot
- Advanced options
- Startup Settings
- Restart
- “7” (Disable driver signature enforcement).
- Install the LI-7000 Windows Interface Software (V 2.0.1).
- Restart your computer to revert back to enabling driver signature enforcement.
