Odyssey Software Version 2.1 Features New Tools for the Discovery Process

LI-COR Biosciences announces the release of Odyssey 2.1 software for the Odyssey® Infrared Imaging System. The release includes an Auto Shape tool as part of the new Odyssey In vivo Software Accessory which automatically creates a feature that encloses fluorescence from irregularly shaped tumors or organs in images of small animals. Pseudo color image display has been added to enhance analysis in the Odyssey In vivo Imaging software module. Images in pseudo color format can be displayed. (In vivo software module key has to be purchased separately) Click here to download Odyssey 2.1 upgrade.

Also included in a the new software version is an automatic grid alignment tool for In-Cell Western assays finds fluorescent spots on an image and automatically places an analysis grid that matches the scanned microplate. Protein arrays can now be more efficiently analyzed by placing a subgrid inside each cell of an Odyssey analysis grid. For shapes drawn or pasted on an image, a new tool automatically adjusts the shape locations to enclose any nearby fluorescence on the image. A multi-shape tool can be used to add a user-specified number of shapes along a path on the image.

File operations have been improved with better support for large image files and easy backup of all data. Image export for publication has been enhanced with choices for image resolution (72 or 300 dpi), file format (JPEG or TIFF) and bit depth (8- or 16-bit for TIFF). Images can now be exported as composite two-channel color images, as well as single-channel color or grayscale images. New data presentation capabilities include a new report table, statistics table, and graphing tool for the quantification data of selected shapes. A variety of other user interface changes and image analysis tools requested by users are also included.

LI-COR customers already under service contract will be sent a free copy of upgrade. Two versions of this upgrade are available: part number 9201-500 for the Basic Odyssey software and part number 9201-550 for Standard Odyssey software which includes In-Cell Western Analysis package.

In vivo imaging software module can be purchased separately. The software module comes included standard with the purchase of MousePOD™ the in vivo imaging accessory for the Odyssey Infrared imaging system.

The Odyssey Infrared Imaging System is uniquely equipped with two infrared channels for direct fluorescence detection on membranes with sensitivity that is equal to or better than chemiluminescence. The superior signal-to-noise ratio produced using near infrared dyes produces results not possible with traditional fluorescence-based imaging systems. LI-COR infrared systems are noted for providing superior imaging for a growing list of applications including Western blots, In-Cell Western assays, EMSA's, gel documentation and in vivo imaging.
