January 11,2006. Lincoln, Nebraska. LI-COR Biosciences upgrades its Odyssey Imaging System with a new computer featuring a faster microprocessor and expanded memory. In addition to enhancing the performance of Odyssey's imaging software, the new computer features ENERGY STAR® compliant operation and a lead-free motherboard and chassis, which are designed to reduce the use of environmentally sensitive materials. This additional reduction of hazardous materials complements Odyssey's use of non-radioactive fluorescence-based reagents to label proteins. Infrared fluorescence imaging with the Odyssey system enables a wide range of applications including Western blots, Coomassie® stained gels, cell-based assays, non-radioactive gel-shift assay, tissue imaging, in-vivo imaging, protein arrays, and a variety of other imaging applications.
